The Google Constituency

You do not have to look farther than their blogs to see a striking example of the difference between the Republican Party and the Democratic party.

Let us start with the DNC's blog:

dnc blog snapshot

Nothing striking, just the first of several blogs today.

Now for the GOP:

RNC Blog

This is the most recent blog they have, from as super duper recently as February 18th. A whole freakin' month and a half ago. Chairman Steele, you are doing a fantastic job of pumping new life into the Republican Party.

This highlights such a stark difference between the two parties. The Republican Party still has no clue that we have entered the Youtube Election Era. John McCain's campaign suffered severely because they did not see this. You could also call it the Google Constituency. The use of the internet, or for you GOP'ers, the super-inter-highway, for message delivery is something that has escaped the Republican party. It is not just about their blog being as inactive as my lazy old dog, that is merely symbolic of their refusal to put the slightest bit of effort into online organizing.

Daily Chatterings: Friday, April 3rd 2009

THE BIG CHATTERING:
Yesterday marked a big day for President Obama and First Lady Michelle. Michelle was especially powerful, though not for her clothing. Her speech to the group of students from a girls school in London was simply moving. I said during the primaries, there are times I like Michelle even better than President Obama. This was one of those times. In these moments, she represents the definition of the American dream. A dream that no matter who you are, you have the ability to achieve whatever you set your mind on. It is truly an honor to have her represent our nation. I did not include a link beacause I have two videos down page for you to watch.

SOME OTHER CHATTERINGS:
As you know, the special election to fill Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's seat ended in an astonishingly close initial result. There are still absentee and military votes to be counted, but I think this piece by the NY Liberal Examiner sums it up perfectly (although they Sen. Gillibrand's name wrong).

Students at Radford University in Virginia had a serious scare.

This is a huge victory for President Obama. This administration is acting quick and boldly. I for one, am pleased.

I'm Back

So, between fainting, filming a house meeting for Grow The Hope, a driving to from DC to Albany, NY to help the Working Families Party get votes for Scott Murphy on row E, I have had not time or energy to write here. Daily Chatterings will continue tomorrow.

On Tuesday, March 31st, a special election was held to fill a vacancy in New York's 20th district. This is to fill the seat vacated by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Everyone knew this election would be close, which is where the WFP comes in. When all was said and done last night, Murphy was up by less than 80 votes, with thousands of absentee and military ballots yet to be counted. I called it going to a legal battle at 10:12pm, just over an hour after polls closed. What I had not known, is that the Tedisco campaign actually filed a motion to overturn the election results before the polls had closed. Before a single ballot had even been counted, Tedisco is claiming the results are wrong, unless he changes his mind (aka: unless he wins).

Anyways, this is going to be a legal fight. It is going to annoying. It is going to be slow. In the end, the winner will have a razor thin margin of victory. I will make the guess now that if Murphy wins, the number of votes on the Working Families Party line will greatly outnumber his margin of victory. That is something that Scott Murphy would do well to not forget.

We will follow this one through the process.
